project 365

I got myself an iPhone in Feb and downloaded the application for project 365. For those who are unfamiliar with the notion of project 365, it will be to take a picture a day for a year. Towards the end of 2009, I was tempted to take up this idea but was wondering if I had the time and determination to pull through the whole year, being able to take pictures, every single day. I gave up this idea and went for the "a picture a week' so that it wil be less time consuming.
Yet, after downloading the application, taking a picture a day does not seems to be that hard of a task and I do it everyday with ease. Then the thought of "what if I lose my iphone and I will really like to keep a copy of the pictures as well as my thoughts. So, I decided that I will be printing out my pictures and stick them in a book, together with my thoughts.
When I'm back from Japan, I will be filling this book with pictures of Feb. There is one rule I had set for myself, that will be, no pop - up nor buttons - everything needs to be flat.

Picture of the week 10 will need to wait for I want to take the picture in Japan. I am almost all ready to go.

picture of the week - 9

I almost forgotten about this week picture because my sister is back in home. I had been really busy spending family time with everyone, from my Grandma, aunties, Godmum and lots of shopping time with my sister. From the last time she is back, there had been three shopping malls which had opened, so we were shopping from mall to mall.

There is a saying that "the family who eats together stays together", this is a picture taken before dinner tme. When we were younger, my family goes to my Grandma's house almost 6 days a week for dinner, I had so many memeories of my sister and I eating these home cooked food and how my Grandma will be asking us to come eat at the dinner table. Being a Chinese family, the dinner table is always round. A round of greetings to ask our Elders to "eat" before dinner starts.

The reason for choosing this picture is I like the mood that my lens had captured. Seeing how happy the both of them look is enough to put a smile on my face. My sister is working in Sydney for the past 5 years , these family dinners only happens for 3 weeks in a year. These family dinner nowadays come rare, and I had been bringing my DSLR over to almost all the dinner gatherings.

3 more days and I will be off for my Japan trip.

the love month

to be blogging about Feb in the month of Mar really means that I really need to work harder at blogging. It was a busy month with first Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day falling on the same day, the preparation before Chinese New Year, the many different dinners which MT and I had to attend and the CNY shopping MT& I had to do.

This is what I had made for MT for this year Valentine's Day : another mini album. The first Valentine's Day we spent together, I made a mini album to entered an online scrapbook challenge. This year, I had decided for every Valentine's Day we spend together, I will make an album for MT. He said that he likes to look through the scrapbook stuff which I made hence this decision. This album starts with the venue that MT had asked me to be his ger and it captured all the sweet memories of 09.

picture of the week -8

I am early for this week picture - I am glad that I made it this week. Picture number 8 is about my childhood memories. This bottle of butter cookies reminded me of my childhood days when my 7th aunt then was still staying with my Grandma and will bake these cookies for me, my sis and my cousin -Jun. When I was young, I spent almost all my time in my Grandma's house so afternoon will be spent watching my 7th Aunt baking if not, it will be with Jun.

Receiving this bottle butter cookies bought back these memories, hence it is this picture of the week.

My sister is coming back to Singapore for a four week stay and she will be back tomorrow.

Picture of the week - 5,6 & 7

Happy Chinese New Year to You! It is the Tiger year this year and what made this Chinese New Year so different was MT and I ushered in the year together. It is also the first time, MT went over to my Grandma's house.

I know that I had been lazy pertaining to the picture of the week. Things at work had been really crazy and there had been some bumps for MT's internal transfer within our company. The both of us were so stressed out about the situation but everything had been worked out- something had to give and in the end, it was MT who gave in.

I promise that I shall make more effort in taking more pictures. Since it is the Chinese New Year, here are my three pictures for week 5,6 and 7.

Picture for week 5: on the 30th night of the CNY, I will have a habit of going to the flower nursery and buy flowers for the CNY. This year is still the same.
Picture for week 6, my ah ma(grandma) will pray to the Heaven on the 30th. I love the colour and traditions.

Picture for week 7, this is the roast pork which we had on Ren Ri. It was our turn to host the dinner. Dish number one out of the five dishes which we had.

picture of the week : Three

I am always going things at the every last min and here is my take on this week's picture. Did not bring my DSLR out for an outing so I used my handy phone cam to do thee job. The picture turns out to be okay.

I had taken picture of my favourite milk tea - a beverage that I always order, if I have my way, I will be drinking it almost every day. However, my tummy does not take milk well so I am unable to drink the milk tea I love as and when I like. Now that I am feeling slighly better than I am ordering this drink .

It is a happy Sunday for me - for the first time, I had won a book in a give away on the internet, to be more specify: it is from ladyironchef. I had taken part in many scrapbooking giveaways but had never won anything. With the quote Joey provided me with, I can't believe that I managed to win the book. The quote is " bowl of vegatables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate”.

Tomorrow, I am meeting my Godmum for brunch to spend some quality time with her.

picture of the week - two

This is picture number for the second week of the year. For the whole week, I had been looking for an item for me to take a picture of. Today, MT bought me to the underwaterworld and this tree was in the open air car park. I noticed the flowers while we were walking back to car park. I love taking pictures of flowers, in particular when the flowers are in their natural habitat. This is my take for the week.
I need to start to think of what I am going to take a picture of the next week.

For scrapbooking, I had managed to scraped three different layouts on Friday night - I am happy with the progress. Shall post the pictures another day.

Happy Sunday !

Picture Of The Week - One

Here it is. Picture number one of the year for the first week, I know that I am late in posting this picture. I am hoping that I will be more consistent for the rest of the pictures to come.

This pictures marks the first time of me using my ISO button on my DSLR, never mind that I had owned my DSLR for almost 9 months, till now, I had always set it on the auto mode, being lazy and not wanting to do more for my pictures. The ISO settings for this picture was at 1600.

The flowers were from MT, given to me on our first year anniversary while we were on the cable car. This is also the first time I was able to dry my flowers(roses) and keep them for one than a couple of months. Sadly, due to dust and other factors such as space constraint, I had decided that after taking a picture of the flowers, I need to throw them away.

what do you think of the picture?

a fruitfull weekend

The first weekend of 2010 is almost coming to an end, and to remember what have I done for this weekend, I had decided that I will like to write it down.

Let's start with New Year's eve. The plan was that I had to work an overnight shift, starting at 11pm to 8am in the morning. At about 9.30pm, my left eye became sore and the whole ear became really puffy. I had to informed my managers that I will be going in an hour later because I will need to go see my doctor just to make sure that it is nothing serious. [before this, the sore eye which I thought nothing of became so serious that I had three days MC.] I reached work, just before 12pm and started work, 12midnight, right on the dot. MT was with me - all this while. Our first meal together for the year was MacDonald since it was the nearest.

On New Year Day itself, after my super long nap, we met up for tea, head over to his house to relax. Dinner was supposed to be seafood : crab [MT seems to be having a craving for them] but the bussiness was so good that it was already sold out by the time we reached the dinner place. We had the usual sweet and sour fish, vegs and pork rib : it was yummy.

After a super late brunch on sat, my mum, Dillon and I head over to the temple for some praying before the lunar year comes to an end. met up with MT in town to get Chinese New Year clothes. Had an early dinner at 313@summerset, head over to his house to watch Korean drama and we called it early for the night.

Sunday, was WORK WORK AND WORK. I managed to finished the background of the mini album which i am working on. I had decided that I will be making an album to remember what 2009 was.

Mum cooked dinner while I catch up on my korean drama. I like to spend my weekends like this.

It is the first Monday of the year tomorrow and I can already imagine how busy it is going to be.

Happy Sunday!
